About The Position

The Security Shift Supervisor is responsible for supervising the daily activities of the Security Department on assigned shift; provides support for other departments as needed. This position spends a majority of on-duty time standing and/or walking in public areas of the property, including but not limited to, the casino, pavilion, restaurants, meeting spaces, rooming areas, parking lots, golf course and grounds. The role requires the ability to effectively and efficiently traverse stairs, uneven surfaces, varied flooring surfaces and ground coverings while patrolling, responding to calls for service or emergency situations. The Security Shift Supervisor must be able to identify and quickly respond to potential problems, altercations and conflicts and defend self and others in combative situations. They must also be able to lift, push and pull up to 50 lbs, move money boxes, carts and drop equipment as necessary, and assist sick or injured guests and/or employees. The position requires the ability to communicate courteously, effectively, and professionally with guests, outside contacts and all levels of employees. The Security Shift Supervisor must be able to use tools and equipment, including but not limited to, keys, handcuffs, flashlights, radios, computers and other tools specific to the position. They must be flexible to work varying shifts and time schedules as needed and perform duties under varying conditions, including but not limited to, exposure to varying levels of smoke, crowds, noise, and changing weather conditions. Additionally, the role requires the ability to compose, review and comprehend clear, concise and accurate reports, maintain a high level of awareness as to criminal and civil laws as it pertains to Belterra, and may conduct investigations where required. The Security Shift Supervisor must be bondable with no felony convictions, able to work in a drug-free environment and pass a chemical dependency test as required. They must also be able to obtain and maintain all licenses/certifications per Federal, State, and Gaming regulations and be at least 21 years of age.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in security, law enforcement or military.
  • Ability to compose, review and comprehend, clear, concise and accurate reports.
  • Must be able to identify and quickly respond to potential problems, altercations and conflicts and defend self and others in combative situations.
  • Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 50 lbs, move money boxes, carts and drop equipment as necessary.
  • Must be able to assist sick or injured guests and/or employees.

  • Basic knowledge of Indiana civil and criminal laws and Indiana Gaming Commission regulations.
  • Basic knowledge of county and state ordinances.
  • Knowledge and understanding of electronic, video, and alarm functions.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to compose clear, accurate, and concise reports.
  • General familiarity with investigative procedures.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Must be bondable with no felony convictions.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Supervising the daily activities of the Security Department on assigned shift.
  • Providing support for other departments as needed.
  • Training, motivating, evaluating, and supervising staff on assigned shift to ensure employees receive adequate guidance and resources to accomplish established objectives.
  • Understanding department objectives, standards, guidelines, and budget to achieve effective supervision of the department.
  • Establishing and maintaining training and development procedures to ensure extraordinary guest service standards are achieved.
  • Ensuring that proper arrest procedures and detainment techniques are carried out in violations of criminal law.
  • Ensuring that all company and departmental procedures are followed; assisting various local, state and federal authorities in various activities and investigations to ensure that procedures and laws are observed.
  • Maintaining current information on local criminal activity, etc., to ensure the protection of company assets, guests and team members.
  • Developing and maintaining communications with law enforcement agencies and security personnel of other casinos.
  • Resolving guest complaints and ensuring that the highest level of guest service is rendered at all times.
  • Providing support to departmental management in the event of sensitive and/or dangerous situations involving terminations, thefts, team member or guest issues, etc.
  • Transportation of "for cause” drug/alcohol testing, as needed.
  • Conducting training classes on various topics such as: CPR, First-Aid, Bomb Search & Recognition, Disaster Planning and Evacuation, investigation of accidents, etc.
  • Acting as the On-Scene Leader that reports to the Security Manager for any life safety emergency (such as, fire, flood, bomb threat, evacuation, man-overboard, etc.) on the vessel to ensure safety of casino guests, employees and property.
  • Providing support to other departments to ensure that proper procedures for Games, Slots, Cashiers, drops, etc., are implemented and maintained.
  • Preparing complete and accurate reports to ensure that management is kept abreast of security related incidents.
