About The Position

The Security Shift Supervisor will manage the operation of the Texas Health System Security and Police force within their assigned area. This role involves planning, analyzing, evaluating, and managing security operations, including physical security assets and personnel. The supervisor will identify and analyze security position designs, work processes, and workflows, and monitor staffing levels to ensure optimal coverage. They will develop preventative security programs, supervise security personnel, and initiate personnel actions such as recruitment, selection, and discipline. The position also serves as a liaison with public law enforcement and fire departments, participates in the Texas Health Threat Assessment Team, and monitors key performance indicators. The supervisor will be a member of the Texas Health Incident Management team as needed and may serve as a leader for emergency management within their area. They will monitor and report performance on physical security metrics, conduct audits of security performance and equipment, and prepare reports for internal investigations and state licensure. Additionally, the role involves assisting with training programs for security staff and other Texas Health employees, promoting professional growth, and assisting with budget development and management.

Requirements

H.S. Diploma or Equivalent Required
Associate's Degree Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Security or closely related field or 2 Years Security supervisory experience in lieu of Associate's Degree Required.
2 Years Security and/or law enforcement supervisory experience Required.
Excellent customer service skills.
Effective management skills and techniques.
Good verbal and written communication skills, evidenced by demeanor and previous training.
Basic computer skills with MS Office and other industry-driven software.
Knowledge of industry standards including but not limited to IAHSS, TJC, Medicare, OSHA, State of Texas DPS.
Knowledge of continuous improvement and change management.
Must possess the ability to physically defend and/or restrain people.
Must successfully complete a psychological evaluation.
DL - Driver’s License Class C and must be insurable Upon Hire Required
CSO - Commissioned Security Officer Texas Private Security Level 2 (not required if have Level 3) 14 Days Required
CSO - Commissioned Security Officer Texas Private Security Level 3 (2 attempts permitted). Biannual recertification. 60 Days Required
TASER Certification Complete Course & Certification (2 attempts permitted). Annual recertification. 60 Days Required
ACPI - Advanced Crisis Prevention Intervention Training maintained annually 30 Days Required.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's Degree Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Security, or closely related field Preferred.
2 Years Healthcare or education security experience Preferred.

Responsibilities

Manage the operation of the Texas Health System Security and Police force within assigned area.
Plan, examine, analyze, evaluate, and manage Texas Health System Security and Police operations, inclusive of physical security assets and security personnel.
Identify and analyze the design of security positions, work processes, and workflows.
Examine and monitor security department staffing within assigned area to provide optimal levels.
Develop preventative security programs.
Provide for the supervision of security personnel.
Initiate personnel actions such as recruitment, selections, transfers, promotions and discipline or dismissal measures.
Serve as Texas Health's liaison with public law enforcement, fire, and other agencies as it relates to security within assigned area.
Participate in the Texas Health Threat Assessment Team for assigned area and monitor for correct utilization.
Monitor key performance indicators for assigned area in support of Texas Health’s organization wide key performance indicators.
Serve as a member of the Texas Health Incident Management team as needed.
Serve in a primary or support leader for emergency management within the assigned area of responsibility.
Monitor and report performance on approved physical security metrics.
Perform audits of security related performance and conduct physical surveys of premise security including security equipment condition.
Conduct, supervise, and prepare reports relating to internal investigations of losses or violations of Texas Health physical security policies and procedures or state of Texas laws.
Prepare and provide cumulative security reports on routine and ad hoc basis.
Prepare and submit all required reports necessary for state of Texas licensure.
Assist with the developing and implementation of Texas Health Security and Police force training program.
Ensure department staff maintain required licensure.
Participate in the development and delivery of security related training for non-security department Texas Health employees.
Stay abreast of current and new industry standards to ensure effective training level maintained.
Promote professional growth, development, and accountability in staff.
Assist with developing operating and capital budgets for assigned area of responsibility.
Manage the approved budget and adjust strategies as needed to meet budgeting expectations.
Prepare budget performance reports for assigned area.
Patrol buildings and ground for unlocked secured areas for after hour entry.
Lock and open doors according to schedules.
Provide individual and group escorts to and from parking areas.
Identify and remove unauthorized individuals from property.
Enforce campus parking policies/cite violations.
Maintain compliance with Security policies.
Pursue and detain persons involved in criminal activity.
Fill out incident/offense report forms and compose narratives.
Give directions to areas of facility.
Interact with police, fire personnel, patients, visitors, and staff.
Provide vehicle assistance.
Patrol interior/perimeter of campus and parking.
