About The Position

The security services officer will be directly responsible to the building principal and/or the Supervisor of Security, Safety Services. The officer will monitor the conduct of all persons in and around the boundaries of the designated facility.

Requirements

  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED
  • Must possess a valid Kansas Driver’s License
  • Must be skilled and communicate effectively in dealing with students, personnel, and staff
  • Must be able to multi-task and remain calm during stressful situations
  • Basic computer proficiency and the ability to effectively use Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, which may be determined and validated by testing
  • Ability to work effectively with students, parents and staff
  • Must be able to work as a team member and respond to volatile situations while remaining calm
  • Must be able to attend and pass required security training
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and written in order to communicate with others inside and outside of the organization for the purpose of giving and obtaining information
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a Supervisor when their discretion is needed
  • Ability to perform as an effective team player
  • Ability to plan, organize, make decisions and prioritize work to meet the daily demands of the building
  • Exhibit a professional manner and a positive attitude
  • Use good judgment to make decisions on recurring assignments
  • Display a significant degree of professionalism and confidentiality
  • Ability to conform to proper standards of professional dress and appearance
  • Knowledge of company’s mission, purpose, goals and the role of every employee in achieving each of them
  • Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb stairs and freely and quickly move around the building and grounds

Nice To Haves

  • Previous law enforcement and/or security related experience preferred
  • Must possess good ethical and professional behavior

Responsibilities

  • Provide maximum security for individuals within the buildings and grounds of USD 259 and at school sponsored events
  • Monitor the conduct of all persons in and around the boundaries of the designated facility
  • Be knowledgeable of all routine security and emergency crisis procedures
  • Be knowledgeable of all BOE policies pertaining to USD 259 properties, personnel and students
  • Patrol, in a vehicle and on foot, the parking area, grounds and buildings of assigned site and report any violations which impair the safety of persons and/or property
  • Prepare accurate and complete security incident reports in a timely manner
  • Respond to requests of the building principal and/or designee in dealing with individuals disruptive to school operations
  • Assist in all routine and emergency situations pertaining to USD 259 properties, personnel and students
  • Possess appropriate communication and people skills in working with high risk behavioral students
  • Provide after hour duties as may be requested by the building principal and/or designee
  • Attend certified training and mandatory in-service training
  • Attend mandatory law enforcement training courses
  • Assist with additional duties as assigned by supervisor
