About The Position

The Illinois Department of Agriculture is seeking individuals for temporary employment not to exceed 6 months for the DuQuoin State Fair summer season. Temporary employees are needed for the Security area. This is an ideal opportunity for anyone looking to work in a constantly changing fast-paced environment. Successful candidates will be individuals who can work promptly and efficiently in order to maintain that the DuQuoin State Fair, as well as non-fair events, run effectively. Applicants are encouraged to apply early as offers for positions will be made on a first come first serve basis. This position will be responsible for securing a designated area on the grounds in an effort to assist the Illinois State Police to ensure the safety of fair goers and exhibits.

Requirements

• Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of eight years of elementary school.
• Must be able to pass a name-based sex offender registry check.
• Must be able to work all 11 days of the State Fair, which may include nights and weekends.
• Must be able to work for up to 8-12 hours a day.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• This position may require a valid driver’s license.
• This position may require the ability to complete a good deal of walking, standing, and sitting.

• Prefers experience maintaining satisfactory working relationships with management, other employees, and members of the public.
• Prefers experience with understanding and following written and oral instructions.

Responsibilities

• Monitors an assigned area during the Du Quoin State Fair (DSF).
• Relieves or covers other assigned stations as instructed, when needed.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
• Securing a designated area on the grounds in an effort to assist the Illinois State Police to ensure the safety of fair goers and exhibits.
