Requirements

  • Experience installing and wiring access control, network cameras, door hardware, panel installation & wiring, and programming of door and camera additions.
  • Comfortability performing test and inspect on fire systems.
  • Solid understanding of blueprints, design drawings including wiring and labeling methods, system wiring, wiring methods, cut sheets, wiring schematics, and cable support installation (J-Hook, Raceway, Conduit, Cable Support).
  • Very familiar with basic blueprints, schematics, manuals, and other specifications to determine installation procedures unassisted, may require assistance with more complex specifications.
  • Strong customer focus and ability to work under pressure; ability to maintain awareness of, and seek to meet the needs and wants of the customer without being prompted.
  • Solid mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g. works with a variety of hand and power tools such as drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper) and ability to read blueprints and drawings; solid math skills (for some positions, this may include calculating area, velocity, resistance, voltage, etc.).
  • Solid verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • The Project Specialist will be responsible for providing basic hand tools as required to perform the daily tasks of the position.
  • A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Previous construction experience including some level of electrical or a low voltage background.
  • 3-5 year experience in 1 or more of the following industries: electronic, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation.

  • Relevant trade designation (e.g. Electrician, Communications)
  • Experience with Silent Knight, Fire-lite
  • Experience installing, programming, and testing EST-4 fire systems
  • Certifications & Licenses: Project Management Institute (PMI); industry-specific certifications and/or

Responsibilities

  • Encourage participation in the Recruit Awesome People program to grow Convergint by referring top talent.
  • Install, program, test, repair, and service a variety of systems and equipment including security, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation with minimal guidance.
  • Work closely with customers and internal colleagues to provide technical installation support and training, potentially assisting or training less experienced Electrical Installers.
  • Interpret manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams, and repair equipment using knowledge of electronics and standard test instruments and hand tools.
  • Provide basic installation assistance as directed by the project lead.
  • Act as ‘our customer’s best service provider’ at all times, ensuring Convergint Technologies is the customer’s first choice for service.
  • Take ownership of onsite projects, including safety, quality, and performance, and observe Convergint Quality Standards.
  • Make suggestions for installation methods to improve profitability and quality.
  • Learn and perform tasks of an Electrical Installer III to progress through the trade program.
  • Provide feedback to the Job-Lead regarding problems and anticipate time associated with assigned tasks, acting as the primary liaison to the Project Lead.
