About The Position

This ten-week paid internship is located in Chicago, IL. Security Program Management Senior Interns are responsible for actively participating in HCSC’s formal internship program that leverages your skills, knowledge, and capabilities while providing meaningful experience supporting business objectives and member-focused solutions. Working closely with cross-functional teams in both business and technical areas, the Security Program Management Senior Intern will contribute to project work, analyze information, and support the development of solutions that address organizational needs. The Security Program Management Senior Intern is responsible for learning and applying specific aspects of the organization's processes, programs, and technologies while demonstrating increasing independence and ownership of assigned deliverables.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a master’s degree or higher-level degree with a focus on cybersecurity, management information systems, information technology, information security, or computer science. Other related fields with comparable experience may be considered.
  • Graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0.
  • Available for the full duration of the 10-week program.
  • Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States; sponsorship is not available for this role.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong interest in technology and pursuing a career in Cybersecurity.
  • A strong desire and passion to learn about cyber security, computer hacking, and cyber investigations.
  • Participation in and/or placing in 'Capture the Flag', IT Hacking or other similar competitions is a strong plus.
  • Experience with MS Project, JIRA, or other project management/tracking platforms is a plus.
  • Involvement in IT related Associations/Organizations or participation in relevant technical competitions is a plus.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills including clear and concise verbal and written communication.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Results-oriented with a continuous improvement mindset and an ability to grasp new and unfamiliar concepts.
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills with the ability to prioritize and support multiple projects.
  • Practical, developed PC skills, especially Office 365 and virtual team collaboration tools (MS Teams, SharePoint, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Own components of project work and deliverables with guidance from an assigned mentor and manager.
  • Conduct research, analyze data and information, and develop recommendations that inform real business decisions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Support departmental initiatives that improve business outcomes and the member and client experience.
  • Develop and deliver a final internship presentation to department leadership covering the project, results, and recommendations.
  • Maintain complete confidentiality of company business and comply with HIPAA, Diversity Principles, Corporate Integrity, and applicable compliance policies.
