About The Position

Allied Universal is hiring an unarmed Security Professional for an assignment in a healthcare facility in Allentown. The role involves foot and/or vehicle patrols of hospital grounds, controlling access and egress, monitoring CCTV and alarm systems, documenting observations, and deterring criminal activity and misconduct. Additional duties include walking patrols, customer service, operating a fire system, monitoring cameras, and completing work orders. The listed pay rate is $18.54 per hour, and the schedule is every other Saturday from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Because this is a safety-sensitive healthcare assignment, candidates must be able to submit to drug screening to the extent permissible by law. A tuberculosis test and certain vaccinations may also be required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current driver's license if driving a company- or customer-owned vehicle.
• Any required security licensing, subject to state and local laws and regulations; licensing may be required before employment.
• At least two years of verifiable employment history relating to customer service or the protective service industry.
• At least 18 years of age, or older if required by the state.
• Ability to operate radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors.
• Ability to interact cordially and communicate with the public.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Problem-solving skills and active listening skills.
• Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively and identify critical issues quickly and accurately.

Nice To Haves

• Military Occupational Specialty related to law enforcement or security, such as Military Police, Elite Military Forces, or combat arms, or a support role in a Combat Zone.
• Graduation from a Certified Public Safety Academy (military or civilian) or verified work experience in law enforcement, adult corrections, or firefighting.
• Bachelor's degree in law enforcement or criminal justice-related studies.
• Eight or more years of service in any military branch.
• Associate's degree (or 60 credits) or higher in law enforcement or criminal justice with current or prior active military service.

Responsibilities

• Perform security patrols of hospital grounds on foot or in a vehicle and document unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards.
• Assist hospital staff with de-escalating situations involving patients and restrain combative individuals when necessary, within company and customer guidelines.
• Transport patients to the morgue as needed.
• Help escort patients from the helicopter pad to the emergency room.
• Assist with evacuations during fires, medical emergencies, and natural disasters.
• Sound alarms or contact police or the fire department in response to fires or unauthorized persons.
• Warn people of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles.
• Control access to the property and monitor entrances and exits to ensure only authorized individuals enter and exit and that contraband or hospital items are not brought in or removed.
• Observe departing personnel to help prevent theft of company property and ensure authorized property removal meets client requirements.
• Investigate and prepare reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities, and maintain written logs as required.
• Provide customer service, monitor cameras, operate the fire system, and complete work orders.
