About The Position

Allied Universal is hiring a full-time Security Professional Flex Officer for a corporate building in Midtown, Manhattan. The role safeguards clients and may involve assignments across different industries and sites. Officers use a shift-pickup platform to view and claim open shifts according to their availability. The position may require irregular shifts with little or no advance notice. Candidates should be flexible Monday through Sunday; morning, afternoon, evening, and overnight shifts are available. The pay rate is $23.05 per hour.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, or five years of verifiable experience.
• Licensing requirements may apply before employment, depending on state and local laws and regulations.
• Valid driver’s license if driving a company- or customer-owned vehicle.
• Must pass a background investigation, subject to applicable laws.
• Must pass a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• At least 18 years of age, or older if required by the state; 21 years if armed.
• Reliability and ability to adapt to different post assignments.
• Ability to operate radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors.
• Demonstrated ability to interact cordially and communicate with the public.
• Effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to write informatively, clearly, and accurately.
• Active listening and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively and identify critical issues quickly and accurately.
• Ability to mediate conflict with tact and diplomacy.

Nice To Haves

• Ability to speak, read, and write in multiple languages, such as Spanish, Portuguese, French, or Arabic.
• Prior security, military, or law enforcement experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform security patrols of designated areas on foot or in a vehicle.
• Watch for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards.
• Sound alarms or call the police or fire department in case of fire or the presence of unauthorized persons.
• Warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles.
• Permit authorized persons to enter the property and monitor entrances and exits.
• Observe departing personnel to protect against theft of company property and ensure authorized removal of property follows client requirements.
• Investigate and prepare reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities; maintain written logs as required by the post.
• Aid customers, employees, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
• Make emergency notifications as necessary pursuant to site Post Orders.
