Summary Enforces security measures and rules for the protection of all Kansas City Plant facilities, classified material and personnel within areas of responsibility to preclude unauthorized access, conversion, theft or intentional destruction.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • More than three years education or progressive work experience in the military and or law enforcement
  • Must have basic reading ability
  • Must meet DOE firearms and physical fitness standards.
  • Must have a background which would not preclude a security clearance being granted.
  • Must maintain a valid state driver's license.
  • Must meet DOE Firearms and Physical fitness standards and comply with all applicable legal statutes.
  • Must be able to perform duties wearing personal protective equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Protects the organization's physical assets by maintaining and safeguarding the physical perimeter, exterior, and interior perimeters of the facility.
  • Patrols and protects the facilities by foot and/or vehicle to detect or prevent illegal/unauthorized activities.
  • Reports/responds to unusual or emergency situations, using the appropriate degree of physical force and or weaponry as situation dictates.
  • Enforces access control to personnel and vehicular traffic entering and exiting the complex.
  • Maintains and updates visitor logs, commercial deliveries and outside contractors entering and exiting the facility.
  • Be alert for potential security, property or safety concerns and initiates the appropriate actions.
  • Perform escort duties as appropriate.
  • Prevent/report all violations of security and safety rules and regulations.
  • Respond to protective alarm signals or other unusual/suspicious activities.
  • Maintain proficiency with all assigned weapons as required.
  • Maintains an in-depth knowledge of all security orders (special, general post) pertaining to assigned duties as well as working knowledge of applicable federal/state laws.
  • Enforces parking lot rules.
  • Conducts activities in a safe and healthy manner and works in accordance with established ES&H requirements to ensure the protection of associates, the public, and the environment.
  • Takes actions necessary to stop work when an unsafe condition or action is identified. Every associate has the right and responsibility to stop work when unsafe conditions or actions are identified.
