About The Position

The Assurance Automation & Risk Management team within Apple Services Engineering (ASE) Security is responsible for securing the platforms, infrastructure, and distributed systems behind Apple’s global services. The team is building an AI-assisted Security Automation Platform that turns expert security standards into reliable software using agentic workflows, deterministic scaffolding, and evaluation gates integrated with core security data systems, including Security Findings, Bill of Materials, and Risk Governance.

The Security Platform Automation Engineer will build and operate a pipeline to scale security reviews across Apple’s thousands of services. The role involves designing and operating an AI-agentic review system, its skills and tool layer, and an evaluation harness on top of existing security tooling. The engineer will work closely with security engineers who define review standards and analysts who validate results, creating a reliable, high-throughput workflow that reduces manual effort. The posting also describes a Tech Lead opportunity to lead the platform’s software architecture and agentic engineering.

Requirements

• At least 1 year building LLM- or agent-based systems that ran in production, with a measured quality bar.
• At least 8 years building and operating production automation, data pipelines, or backend services.
• High proficiency in at least one of Python, Go, or Java.
• Experience integrating third-party and first-party APIs, tooling, and services into reliable end-to-end workflows and AI-agent workflows.
• Working knowledge of application and cloud security concepts, including threat modeling, vulnerabilities, and secure configuration.
• MS or BS, or equivalent experience, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; alternatively, equivalent practical experience in Software or Security Engineering.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with agent engineering, including retrieval, grounding, citation, and reasoning.
• Experience designing agentic workflows with bounded autonomy, building LLM- or agent-based automation, and evaluating output quality using measures such as precision and recall and human-in-the-loop feedback loops.
• Experience building AI-agent evaluation harnesses as CI.
• Familiarity with AWS cloud resources such as S3, EC2, Lambda, and Step Functions.
• Experience with security tooling such as SAST/SCA scanners, SBOM tooling, or vulnerability intelligence platforms.
• Background in security review, threat modeling, or supply-chain security.
• Experience delivering tooling used at scale by non-engineer reviewers or contractors.
• Awareness of AI-specific threats in systems that ingest untrusted input.
