About The Position

Union Gospel Mission of Tarrant County (UGM-TC), a Christian organization founded in 1888, is dedicated to helping homeless women, men, and families by providing love, hope, respect, and a new beginning. UGM-TC relies on community generosity for funding and offers a residency program to help individuals transition out of homelessness and become productive members of society. The organization is seeking a Security Patrol Officer, primarily for the second shift (2-10 pm), with flexibility in hours and days worked. This role is crucial for maintaining the safety and security of the 10-acre campus and its associated services.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of security, law enforcement, or military experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with security equipment.
  • Ability to handle physical workload (walking/standing).
  • Level 2 License preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • An ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds at varying levels of understanding.
  • Problem Sensitivity — The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.
  • Deductive Reasoning — The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  • Flexibility of Closure — The ability to identify or detect a known pattern (a figure, object, word, or sound) that is hidden in other distracting material.
  • Inductive Reasoning — The ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
  • A clean driving record.
  • Must align with Christian beliefs in Jesus Christ.

Nice To Haves

  • Former military or law enforcement experience preferred.
  • Bilingual: Spanish Speaking a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol buildings and grounds.
  • Maintain campus security and follow lock protocols.
  • Provide individual and group escorts to and from parking areas.
  • Identify and remove unauthorized individuals from property.
  • Enforce campus parking policies and cite violations.
  • Execute Courtesy Patrol policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Provide campus directions to facility visitors.
  • Interact with police, fire personnel, EMS, patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Complete incident/offense reports by performing investigations, recording observations, taking statements, gathering information, citing occurrences, and utilizing surveillance activities.
  • Make eye contact and greet all people with respect.
  • Respond to calls for service and emergency situations with urgency and professionalism.
  • Assess situations and utilize appropriate de-escalation measures.
  • Utilize critical thinking skills.
  • Respond to and activate appropriate emergency response codes.
  • Support activities and events by utilizing appropriate crowd control techniques.
  • Work overnights, weekends, evening hours, and holidays as needed.
