The Security Patrol Officer II provides operational support and leadership to Security Patrol Officers in the field. This position serves as the acting supervisor when needed, ensuring patrol operations run smoothly, officers adhere to established policies and procedures, and incidents are handled effectively. The role acts as a liaison between frontline staff and command staff, providing feedback, oversight, and field-level coordination. Act as Field Training Officer and perform related work as required.

Requirements

  • Extensive work experience involving public contact or equivalent combination of education and experience which produces the following:
  • Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the job.
  • Knowledge of the geography of the community.
  • Knowledge of controlling rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of computer and applicable software programs.
  • Ability to effectively instruct others and maintain a working relationship with various levels of employees.
  • Ability to think and act quickly, calmly and accurately in emergency situations.
  • Ability to relate to the needs and concerns of senior citizens.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the public.
  • To deal with public relation problems courteously and tactfully.
  • Ability to read, understand, interpret and explain rules and regulations;
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions;
  • Possession of a CA POST 832 Certification or able to obtain within the first six months of employment.
  • Possession of a valid California driver’s license.
  • Possession of BSIS (Bureau of Security Investigation Services) guard card or able to obtain within the first two months of employment.
  • This job requires occasional carrying of up to 20 lbs. and occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to patrol some areas on foot, such as clubhouses and resident manors.
  • Must be able to respond to calls over radio, and be able to communicate verbally to dispatchers, emergency personnel, residents, and other security personnel.
  • Reading, verbal and written communication, customer contact.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor patrol officer performance and provide real-time direction in the field.
  • Respond to major or complex calls for service as the on-scene lead until relieved by supervisory staff.
  • Ensure proper documentation of incidents, including reviewing reports for accuracy and completeness.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for patrol officers during assigned shifts.
  • Provide mentoring, coaching, and field training for less experienced officers.
  • Lead or assist with shift briefings and debriefings.
  • Promote professionalism, teamwork, and positive morale within the patrol division.
  • Ensure all patrol vehicles, radios, and safety equipment are properly checked out, utilized, and returned.
  • Assist in training and orientation of new hires in field operations.
  • Serve in an acting supervisory role in the absence of a Supervisor I

  • Regular attendance is required. All duties performed on site for the Community.
  • At opening and closing, secures gate houses and closes wrought iron gates.
  • Maintains a log and files written reports on serious incidents.
