Requirements

  • High School Graduate General Studies or High School GED General Studies
  • Six (6) months experience as Security Officer in a hospital or healthcare setting with prior law enforcement or military service or One (1) year experience as a Security Officer
  • Security Guard: CA, upon hire
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, within 90 Days
  • Driver's License: CA, within 30 Days

  • Knowledge of emergency procedures, equipment, and supplies, including of radios and hospital codes.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the highest level of safety and security by patrolling assigned areas, diligently deterring, detecting, and investigating suspicious activity or crime.
  • Effectively monitor electronic surveillance equipment and hospital emergency systems, dispatch appropriate personnel via radio, and actively patrol to protect individuals and property, all while embodying our core values and supporting strategic quality improvement.
  • Protecting staff, patients, and visitors by responding to calls for assistance in a timely and prudent manner. Calls may include incidents such as violent or unruly patients, visitors, crimes committed or in progress, or to emergency codes, and requests for opening doors.
  • Patrol the facility and grounds by foot or vehicle; monitor security alarms and dispatch officers promptly to location(s) where needed; and report unsafe acts or conditions.
  • Reports HIPAA breaches if witnessed; investigate security breaches, conducts investigations, and writes incident reports.
  • Ensures that all activities are logged.
  • Incident reports are accurately completed, clear, concise, legible and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Use appropriate emergency and radio codes in dispatching security officers while knowing hospital campus to ensure that dispatches are to right location.
  • Keeping the organization’s mission, vision and values at the forefront of all decision making and action.
  • Demonstrates the professional and technical skills necessary for the role, exhibiting both depth and breadth of expertise.
