About The Position

This role is for a Security Officer at Mt. Bachelor, a POWDR company, for the Summer 2026 season. The position involves performing assigned shifts to protect property, facilities, and assets, providing security, customer service, loss prevention, and intervention. The goal is to ensure a safe and secure environment for all staff, physical facilities, and assets, and to assist local law enforcement with investigations. The officer will represent Mt. Bachelor positively, support the company mission, and model exemplary conduct. This role requires good mountain and department knowledge for guest interaction and communication via radio and phone. The officer will identify and log unusual occurrences and events. Additionally, the role may involve assisting other departments and providing customer service, including the secure transportation of money.

Requirements

  • Can obtain a Department of Public Safety Standards and Training - Private Security Certified.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License.
  • An understanding of police terminology and classification of crimes/incidents.
  • Ability to accurately report emergencies and incidents to 911.
  • Report Writing.
  • Testifying in Court.
  • Ability to work in a mountain environment with varying temperatures.
  • Physical fitness to walk across snow-covered surfaces in low light conditions (nighttime and/or storm).
  • Shift Work includes Day, Swing, and Graveyard.
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • 6 months+ experience in a similar role preferred.
  • Ability to shovel snow.
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
  • Ability to walk on steep and uneven surfaces.
  • Frequently bend, reach, climb, push, pull, lift over 50 pounds, and stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Frequent visual concentration, rapid reactions to changes, and utilization of hand/eye coordination.
  • Minimum Age Requirement: 21+

Nice To Haves

  • First Aid, C.P.R./AED preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform duties of assigned shifts, including patrols/rounds.
  • Protect property, facilities, and assets.
  • Provide security, customer service, loss prevention, and intervention.
  • Ensure a safe and secure environment for staff, facilities, and assets.
  • Work with local law enforcement to assist investigations of thefts and property loss.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines and DPSST regarding security.
  • Represent Mt. Bachelor positively, supporting the company mission and complying with the supervisor's manual.
  • Model exemplary self-discipline, departmental teamwork, interdepartmental teamwork, guest service, professional skills, and ethics.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and provide customer service.
  • Be responsible for the security of Mt. Bachelor employees, guests, property, and the secure transportation of goods.
  • Act as the first point of contact with guests, requiring good mountain knowledge to answer questions.
  • Communicate via radio with all departments.
  • Identify and log unusual occurrences and other events.
  • Assist other Departments as needed and provide customer service.
  • Be responsible for the secure transportation of money.
  • Follow Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) guidelines and Oregon Laws.
  • Follow safe work practices and be aware of good risk management practices.
  • Interview suspects and take appropriate action.
