As a Security Officer - Corporate Building in San Diego, CA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Shelter, and more. As an Unarmed Patrol Officer at a shelter location, you will conduct routine patrols, maintain a visible presence to help deter incidents, respond to security-related concerns, and provide compassionate customer service to residents, visitors, and staff. Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • A state, county, or city-issued security-related license is preferred.
  • A guard card or license is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and service providers by carrying out site-specific security-related procedures, policies, and emergency response activities within a shelter setting.
  • Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of interior and exterior areas, including entrances, common areas, parking areas, and the perimeter, to help identify and report unusual conditions or policy concerns.
  • Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, respectful, problem-solving manner, following site procedures and contacting appropriate personnel or emergency services as needed.
  • Monitor access points and visitor activity, verify authorization as directed by site policy, and document security-related incidents, observations, and daily activities accurately.
  • Support a respectful environment for individuals experiencing housing instability by communicating professionally, applying site rules consistently, and helping to de-escalate conflicts when appropriate.
