About The Position
As a part-time Security Officer in Rock Hill, South Carolina, you will serve and safeguard clients in a shelter setting. In the screener role at a women’s shelter, you will help maintain a welcoming and controlled environment by screening visitors, monitoring access points, and supporting security procedures. You will assist residents, guests, and staff using communication and customer service skills while helping deter incidents. The listed schedule is Wednesday and Thursday, 1:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. The pay rate is $19.00 per hour.
Requirements
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21 or older for armed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Applicants are subject to a background investigation in accordance with applicable laws.
- Applicants are subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements may apply under state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required before employment.
- A valid driver’s license is required for driving positions only.
Nice To Haves

Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and service providers while carrying out site-specific screening procedures, policies, and appropriate emergency response activities.
- Screen people entering the shelter in accordance with established access-control procedures, verify authorization, and direct visitors to appropriate areas.
- Monitor entry points, visitor activity, and concerns about prohibited items; report unusual activity or policy violations to appropriate site contacts and/or emergency services.
- Respond to incidents and critical situations calmly and in a trauma-informed, problem-solving manner while maintaining resident privacy and confidentiality.
- Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned areas and the perimeter, document observations, and complete required activity and incident reports.
