About The Position

Under general direction, Security Officers are responsible for monitoring all areas of the hospital in order to ensure a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and employees. Security Officers are on campus 24/7 and act as a visible deterrent to crime and policy infractions, as well as detect and report suspicious, unsafe or criminal acts at or near their assigned posts, which may be a threat to the property, staff, visitors or patients. Occasionally interacts with psychiatric/violent patients.

Requirements

  • Possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • Possess effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the general public in a professional and effective manner.
  • Up to 5 Years of verifiable experience, with 3 years in law enforcement, security, customer service or related field.
  • Have intermediate computer skills, report writing and event logging using software (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Ability to handle crisis situations calmly and efficiently.
  • Ability to assist in lifting patients as needed.
  • Ability to restrain violent/combative patients.
  • Requires high level of mental alertness to avoid error and negative consequences to patients.
  • Physical abilities must allow for frequent working, stooping, bending, and frequent lifting and moving of patients.

Nice To Haves

  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • Emergency Preparedness and Life Safety within one year.
  • Should obtain minimal level of proficiency of tasks through experience by the end of three months.
  • Knowledge of principles of direct patient care, certain treatments, basic observations and essential points of care about emergency patients.

  • Restraining violent/combative patients to prevent injuries to themselves, others, and yourself.
  • Performing all other duties as assigned.
