About The Position

As a Security Officer Residential Shelter in South Ozone Park, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Shelter, and more. Join Allied Universal as an unarmed Security Officer at a shelter location, where you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, complete routine patrols, and remain visible to help to deter security-related incidents. You will support residents, staff, and visitors with strong customer service and communication while bringing a caring, reliable, and team-focused approach that reflects integrity in every interaction.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to residents, guests, and staff by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and/or appropriate emergency response activities within a shelter location.
• Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, documenting observations and sharing relevant information with site contacts and/or emergency services when needed.
• Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the shelter property, including common areas, entrances, exits, and perimeter locations, helping to identify unusual activity and/or potential concerns.
• Monitor access to the location by observing arrivals and departures, verifying authorized entry as directed by site policies, and helping to address unauthorized access attempts in a professional manner.
• Support a respectful environment by providing visible presence, assisting with de-escalation when appropriate, and reporting maintenance, behavioral, and/or security-related issues according to post instructions.
