About The Position

As a Security Officer Residential Shelter in Jamaica, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Shelters. Join Allied Universal as an Unarmed Patrol Officer at a shelter location, where you will monitor assigned areas, conduct routine patrols, and remain visible to help deter security-related incidents. Requirements

• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to residents, guests, staff, and/or visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, location-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Respond to incidents, disturbances, and/or critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, documenting relevant details and reporting concerns through proper channels.
• Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the location, including common areas, entry points, hallways, and perimeter areas, to help to deter unwanted activity and identify unusual conditions.
• Monitor access to the location by observing arrivals and departures, verifying authorization when required, and reporting suspicious behavior and/or policy violations.
• Support a respectful environment within the shelter location by assisting with de-escalation, providing directions and information, and communicating professionally with residents, staff, and first responders.
