About The Position

The Security Officer is responsible for performing guard and patrol duties in assigned areas to protect life and property against theft, misappropriation, and disasters, in compliance with government and management directives. The role is on-call at the Hawaii (Waimanalo) Job Corps Center and reports to the Supervisor, Safety & Security.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of related experience.
• Security guard certification, or ability to obtain certification within 90 days of employment.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Secure buildings and property by checking doors, windows, lights, electrical appliances, equipment, locks, and emergency equipment; maintain a log of findings and corrective actions taken.
• Perform parking and traffic control duties.
• Perform routine vehicle equipment inspections.
• Provide general transportation services as necessary.
• Respond to fire alarms, report fires, assist in suppressing fires, and reset fire alarm equipment.
• Set up and check the operation of intrusion alarm systems in buildings as required.
• Assist staff and law enforcement personnel in controlling disturbances and conduct preliminary investigations of crimes.
