About The Position

Allied Universal is hiring a part-time, unarmed Security Professional Flex Officer for a retail plaza in Newport Beach, California. The officer will safeguard clients and visitors, perform patrols, monitor property and access points, respond to security and safety concerns, and document incidents. Officers can view and claim open shifts through the company’s shift-pickup platform. The role may involve irregular shifts with little or no advance notice and assignments across different sites or industries. Pay is $21.50 per hour.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, or five years of verifiable experience.
• Valid driver’s license if driving a company- or customer-owned vehicle.
• Must be at least 18 years of age, or older if required by state law; 21 years if armed.
• Reliability and ability to adapt to different post assignments.
• Ability to operate radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors.
• Ability to interact cordially and communicate with the public.
• Effective oral and written communication skills, including writing clearly, accurately, and informatively.
• Active listening and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to assess and evaluate situations and identify critical issues quickly and accurately.
• Ability to mediate conflict with tact and diplomacy.
• Teamwork and attention to detail.
• Applicants are subject to a background investigation and, where permitted by law, a drug screen.
• Licensing may be required before employment, subject to state and local laws and regulations.
• No prior experience is required.

Nice To Haves

• Ability to speak, read, and write in multiple languages, such as Spanish, Portuguese, French, or Arabic.
• Prior security, military, or law enforcement experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform security patrols of designated areas on foot or in a vehicle.
• Watch for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards.
• Sound alarms or call police or fire departments in the event of a fire or unauthorized persons.
• Warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles.
• Permit authorized persons to enter the property and monitor entrances and exits.
• Observe departing personnel to protect against theft of company property and ensure authorized removals comply with client requirements.
• Investigate and prepare reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities; maintain written logs as required by the post.
• Assist customers, employees, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
• Make emergency notifications as necessary under site Post Orders.
