About The Position

Allied Universal is hiring part-time Security Officers for a freight forwarding facility. The role safeguards clients and property by performing security duties and responding to safety and security concerns. Officers may use a shift-pickup platform to select open shifts according to their availability and may work across different sites and industries. Irregular shifts with little or no advance notice may be required. The listed pay rate is $13 per hour, with weekly pay.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, or five years of verifiable experience.
• Licensing may be required before employment, subject to state and local laws and regulations.
• Valid driver's license if driving a company- or customer-owned vehicle.
• Applicants are subject to a background investigation and, to the extent permitted by law, a drug screen.
• No prior experience is required.
• At least 18 years of age, or older if required by the state; 21 years of age if armed.
• Reliability and ability to adapt to different post assignments.
• Ability to operate radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors.
• Ability to interact cordially and communicate with the public.
• Effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to write informatively, clearly, and accurately.
• Active listening and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively and identify critical issues quickly and accurately.
• Ability to mediate conflict with tact and diplomacy.
• Teamwork and attention to detail.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and work outside in the elements.

Nice To Haves

• Ability to speak, read, and write in multiple languages, such as Spanish, Portuguese, French, or Arabic.
• Prior security, military, or law enforcement experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform security patrols of designated areas on foot or in a vehicle.
• Watch for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards.
• Sound alarms or call the police or fire department in case of fire or unauthorized persons.
• Warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles.
• Permit authorized persons to enter property and monitor entrances and exits.
• Observe departing personnel to protect against theft of company property and ensure authorized property removal follows client requirements.
• Investigate and prepare reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities, and maintain written logs as required by the post.
• Aid customers, employees, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
• Make emergency notifications as necessary pursuant to site Post Orders.
