About The Position

The Security Officer ensures that all procedures are completed in accordance with the hotel's Security operating procedures and standards. This role involves patrolling buildings and grounds, inspecting security measures, and responding to various situations to maintain a safe and secure environment for guests and employees.

Requirements

Knowledge of the location and departmental emergency action and evacuation plans.
Knowledge of locations of all fire extinguishing equipment, gas shut off valves and electrical main panels.
Ability to exercise sound judgment and use of available information to resolve issues and take appropriate action.
Ability to prepare detailed and accurate written security reports.
Ability to investigate incidents of unusual circumstances or disturbances.
Ability to assist with the completion of Incident and Accident reports.
Ability to provide accurate information to inquirers.
Ability to escort guests and employees.
Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, requiring patience, tact, and diplomacy.
Thorough knowledge of State and Federal laws.
Thorough knowledge of standard operating procedures.
Strict adherence to the Rules & Regulations established in the Employees Handbook.
Strict adherence to the Hotel's policy on Fire, Hygiene, Health and Safety.
Punctual reporting for duty following correct clock-in procedures.
Correct grooming and dress as stipulated in the staff handbook, including wearing the correct clean uniform at all times.
Maintenance of a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene at all times.
Good rapport and working relationship with all.
Full awareness and cooperation with all security policies.
Courteous and efficient handling of guest and employee inquiries.
Reporting of guest complaints or problems to supervisors or manager on duty at all times.
Provision and maintenance of the highest possible service standards to clientele at all times.
Use of knowledge with regard to legal matters.
Not being under the influence of drugs or alcohol when on duty.
Familiarity with the emergency procedures of the hotel.
Not communicating to any members of the press with regard to the Hotel, its clientele, and the owners of the hotel.
Not carrying any weapons on property.

Responsibilities

Patrol buildings and grounds to observe and identify potential security and safety risks or undesirable conditions such as fires, theft and vandalism.
Inspect doors, windows, and locks in designated areas to determine the level of security and ensure only authorized personnel are present in back-of-the-house or restricted areas.
Demonstrate knowledge of departmental emergency action and evacuation plans, locations of fire extinguishing equipment, gas shut-off valves, and electrical main panels.
Exercise sound judgment and use available information to resolve issues and take appropriate action when dealing with guests and employees.
Prepare detailed and accurate written security reports.
Investigate incidents of unusual circumstances or disturbances reported by guests, visitors, staff, and off-duty employees.
Assist with the completion of Incident and Accident reports in coordination with the General Manager and Human Resources Director when it pertains to employees.
Provide accurate information to inquirers for directions, hours of operation, etc.
Escort guests and employees as required to parking lots, and provide the same for employees carrying employee banks.
Effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy to defuse anger.
Have thorough knowledge of State and Federal laws, as well as standard operating procedures.
Understand and strictly adhere to the Rules & Regulations established in the Employees Handbook and the Hotel's policy on Fire, Hygiene, Health and Safety.

Be financially aware and aim to strive for a successful profitable business.
