The Security Officer is responsible for performing frequent inspection tours (patrols) of the facility to watch for and guard against signs of trespassing, loitering, theft, property damage, fire, vandalism, breaches of security, accidents, and other hazardous conditions that threaten the safety and well-being of hospital staff, patients, and visitors. This role serves as the first line of defense and response to such incidents. The Security Officer also renders timely emergency assistance in incidents such as patient restraint, assault, theft, and fire, to the best of their ability. Maintaining knowledge of Safety & Security Procedures and Sky Lakes Safety and Disaster Policies is crucial, as is being thoroughly cognizant of the Security Officers' involvement in the Hospital Internal and External Disaster Plans. The role involves operating all hospital vehicles safely and patrolling parking areas to enforce compliance with parking procedures. Additionally, the Security Officer participates in investigations, maintains records, prepares incident and situation reports, consults with their supervisor, and cares for department supplies and equipment. Attendance at staff meetings and scheduled in-services is required, along with demonstrating competence in relation to the organization's mission, vision, values, and strategic plan.
