About The Position

Brighton Marine is seeking a Part-Time Security Officer for their Overnight Weekend shift (11:30 PM - 8:00 AM) to ensure the safety and security of their nine-acre campus in Brighton, MA. The campus includes seven buildings with a total of 215,000 square feet, encompassing veterans housing units, single-room occupancies, leased offices, medical space, corporate headquarters, and extensive grounds. The role involves providing professional security and customer service in both commercial and residential environments.

Requirements

  • Effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with all levels of personnel and the general public.
  • Ability to work in various environments (cold, rain, snow, heat) and extensively patrol and climb stairs in normal and emergency situations.
  • Reliability and flexibility to work additional shifts outside of normal hours, including potential overtime.
  • Ability to lift, carry, or move up to 30 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Project a consistent image that complements Brighton Marine through appearance, performance, and service orientation.
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Intermediate computer skills to operate wireless technology.
  • First-Aid, CPR, and AED training required or willingness to obtain certification.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol buildings and grounds to ensure safety and security, including scheduled tours via detox-activating wand to record progress.
  • Record and maintain log databases for daily activities, inventory information, property damage, unusual occurrences, equipment malfunctions, incidents, and policy violations.
  • Address violators of infractions such as loud behavior, smoking in non-smoking areas, unauthorized access, suspected criminal behavior, and tenant violations.
  • Identify conditions that could lead to injury or loss (e.g., fire, water leakage, spills, sewerage backup) and report findings to management.
  • Maintain parking and traffic control, including directing traffic, operating the security booth, ticketing unauthorized vehicles, and conducting foot patrols.
  • Monitor safety and security systems, including CCTV, Access System, Fire Alarm, Panic Alarm, and Key Alarms.
  • Authorize and open restricted areas for tenants and personnel according to building rules.
  • Provide walking escorts for tenants, patients, visitors, and employees upon request and availability.
  • Perform basic janitorial duties as needed.
