About The Position

The Security Officer provides security for patients, visitors, and staff, and protects the organization's buildings, assets, and properties against theft and vandalism. The role responds to security assistance and escort calls, investigates possible security incidents, and documents findings and responses. It also conducts facility rounds and safety checks, manages door locks according to security policy, and operates security department equipment and security vehicles.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent (GED).
• Complete an International Association of Healthcare Safety and Security (IAHSS) certification course within twelve months of hire date.
• Maintain a valid Mississippi driver's license.
• Effective communication and de-escalation tactics.
• Ability to remain calm and focused in various social environments.
• Work involves assisting with patient restraint.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of healthcare-related security protocols.
• 0–2 years of relevant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide security for patients, visitors, and staff.
• Respond to security assistance and escort calls, log calls, and complete appropriate documentation.
• Investigate possible security incidents by compiling relevant information, interviewing witnesses, and completing written reports.
• Respond promptly to motorist assistance calls, such as jumpstarts and lockouts, and complete a Release of Liability form.
• Protect the organization's buildings, assets, and properties against theft and vandalism.
• Conduct safety checks of assigned areas, complete appropriate forms, and report significant findings to leadership.
• Conduct facility rounds and security checks, and manage door locks in accordance with security policy.
• Complete required safety checks on security vehicles before using them for exterior patrol.
• Operate security department office equipment, including the Security Alarm System, CCTV surveillance system, and computer equipment.
