About The Position

Allied Universal is hiring a Security Officer – Open Availability in Chicago, Illinois. The part-time position is assigned to a designated site and includes fixed weekly anchor shifts, requiring a six-month commitment. The listed schedule is Saturday and Sunday, 2:00 PM–10:15 PM. Officers may claim additional shifts through the company scheduling platform, providing opportunities to increase earnings and work toward a schedule of up to 40 hours per week. The pay rate is $17.05 per hour.

The role involves providing customer service while carrying out security procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities as appropriate. Officers conduct unarmed patrols at a retail location, observe and report concerns, respond professionally to incidents, and assist with access control and documentation as directed.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years old for unarmed roles; armed roles require applicants to be at least 21.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Submit to a background investigation as a condition of employment, in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
• Submit to a drug screen as a condition of employment to the extent permitted by law.
• Meet licensing requirements that may apply under state or local laws and regulations, potentially before employment.
• A valid driver’s license is required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to clients, customers, and visitors while carrying out security procedures, site-specific policies, and appropriate emergency response activities.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of retail sales areas, entrances, exits, parking areas, and perimeter areas to help deter unauthorized activity.
• Observe and report suspicious activity, hazards, and policy violations to appropriate site contacts and Allied Universal leadership.
• Respond calmly and professionally to incidents and critical situations, following established post orders and escalation procedures.
• Assist with access control, customer and employee interactions, and incident documentation as directed by site-specific requirements.
