As a Security Officer High School in Hicksville, NY, this role is designed to provide reliable, consistent hours at an assigned site with the flexibility for you to earn more by picking-up additional shifts when it works for you. Pay Rate: $23.24 / Hour Job Schedule: DayTimeMon06:00 PM - 10:00 PMWed06:00 PM - 10:00 PMFri06:00 PM - 10:00 PM How This Role Works: Fixed-Shift Commitment (“Anchor Shifts”): You will be hired for a designated site and weekly shift that serves as your reliable base schedule. This assignment requires a six (6) month commitment. Earn More, Claim-A-Shift Program: In addition to your fixed shift, you may pick-up extra shifts through our scheduling platform, allowing you to increase earnings and gain experience across multiple sites. Work part-time hours this week and full-time the next. It’s all up to you. This role is ideal for candidates seeking part-time employment with flexibility, income stability, and opportunities to build-up to a full-time schedule of up to 40 hours per week; always with the option to scale back when needed.

Requirements

  • Possess at least 6 months of armed security-related, law enforcement, or military experience.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • Access control and badge experience is preferred.
  • A state, county, or city-issued security-related license is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to students, staff, visitors, and community members by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, following established school district procedures.
  • Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of school buildings, grounds, parking areas, and perimeter areas to help identify and report unusual activity, hazards, and policy violations.
  • Monitor access points and visitor activity, assist with directing guests, and report unauthorized access or suspicious behavior to appropriate personnel.
  • Prepare clear, accurate reports of incidents, observations, and security-related activities, and communicate relevant information to school administration and Allied Universal supervision.
