Requirements

  • A New York State Security Guard License is required.
  • At least 6 months of security-related experience is required.
  • Proof of a high school diploma or GED is required by the client.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to visitors, staff, and members of the public by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a government location.
  • Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, documenting observations and communicating with site personnel and/or public agency contacts as needed.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the location, including interior areas, entry points, and perimeter spaces, to help identify unusual activity and report concerns.
  • Monitor access to the location by observing entrances and exits, verifying authorized access when required, and reporting suspicious behavior and/or policy violations.
  • Support orderly operations by providing directions, assisting with de-escalation when appropriate, and following post orders related to public-facing services and government facility protocols.
