About The Position

Allied Universal is seeking a professional Hospital Security Officer to join our team at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. This full-time position involves safeguarding healthcare premises, protecting staff, members, and visitors, and responding to various incidents. The role requires vigilance, observation, reporting, and customer service skills. Responsibilities include patrolling, de-escalating situations, inspecting security devices, screening individuals, and responding to emergencies. Specific duties may involve assisting nursing staff with patient restraints, escorting deceased patients to the morgue, and providing safety escorts. The position requires frequent walking/standing and moderate technological usage. Multiple vaccinations and a child abuse clearance are required prior to working on-site.

Requirements

  • Prior work experience involving dealing with customers, troubleshooting, and/or managing stressful situations
  • Be at least 21+ years of age
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent, or 5 years of verifiable experience
  • Multiple vaccinations are required prior to working on site (company paid) including: two-stage Tuberculosis screening, MMR, Varicella, Tetanus screenings
  • Child abuse clearance will be submitted at orientation
  • Background investigation
  • Drug screen
  • Management of Aggressive Behavior certification

  • Valid driver's license (for driving positions only)

Responsibilities

  • Observe and remain vigilant for signs of crime, disorder, hazard, and unusual activity
  • Patrol on foot, bicycle, or via a vehicle to check for unsafe conditions, blocked entryways, security violations, mechanical problems, and unauthorized individuals
  • Orally and physically de-escalating individuals, as needed
  • Inspect all security devices and fire control equipment
  • Screen members, visitors, and client employees to expedite their admittance to the facility
  • Respond to incidents of fire, medical emergency, bomb threat, flooding, water discharge, elevator emergency, hazardous materials, or inclement weather with calm urgency
  • May also include patient escort, patient watch, provide safety escort, assist and/or transport deceased to morgue
  • Assist nursing staff with patient restraints
  • Escort nursing staff to hospital morgue with deceased patients
