The Security Officer is responsible for performing frequent inspection tours (patrols) of the facility to watch for and guard against signs of trespassing, loitering, theft, property damage, fire, vandalism, breaches of security, accidents, and other hazardous conditions that threaten the safety and well-being of hospital staff, patients, and visitors. This role serves as the first line of defense and response to such incidents. The officer will render timely emergency assistance in incidents such as patient restraint, assault, theft, and fire. They must maintain knowledge of Safety & Security Procedures and the Sky Lakes Safety and Disaster Policies, and be thoroughly cognizant of their involvement in the Hospital Internal and External Disaster Plans. Additionally, the Security Officer will operate hospital vehicles safely, patrol parking areas, enforce parking procedures, participate in investigations, maintain records, prepare reports, consult with their supervisor, care for department supplies and equipment, and attend staff meetings and in-services. Competence will be demonstrated through proficiency testing, skill demonstration, practice of core standards for service excellence, and documentation review.
