About The Position

This role is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for all staff and visitors. The Security Officer will conduct patrols, respond to emergencies, and enforce hospital policies. This position also involves active participation in safety drills and training related to emergency preparedness.

Requirements

• Maintain NYS Security Guard certification.
• Complete de-escalation training.
• Complete Incident Command System Training as assigned through Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). ICS 100, 200, 700 and 800 courses.

• Other duties as assigned by the Director of Security and Safety as the program develops.

Responsibilities

• Carry out safety and security procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
• Conduct foot patrols of all buildings/parking lots throughout the shift and document these activities.
• Respond to all emergency situations on the hospital campus.
• Maintain a calm, professional, problem-solving demeanor and deploy de-escalation techniques as needed.
• Utilize incident tracking systems to report any incidents.
• Request work orders through your supervisor.
• Enforce parking compliance based on current hospital policy and procedure.
• Participate and play an active role in all drills related to Hazmat, codes, fire, active shooter, lock down, etc.
