About The Position

The Science Museum of Virginia is seeking a dynamic and vigilant Security Officer to help us create unforgettable experiences for our guests. As part of our dedicated Security team, you’ll play a key role in safeguarding our vibrant 18-acre campus from fascinating exhibits to spectacular events. This isn’t your typical security job! You’ll patrol museum grounds, monitor surveillance systems, and enforce safety protocols all while being a welcoming face for visitors, assisting with events, coordinating with first responders, and handling vital logistics like packages and deposits. Requirements

Security experience working in a multi-level, high-volume customer-focused venue
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to follow instructions and relay information clearly across multiple platforms and across all levels of the organization
Comfortable working with a diverse public in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Sufficient strength, agility and stamina to patrol the Museum’s 18-acre campus on foot in all weather conditions
Ability to stay calm under pressure
Ability to take initiative in resolving safety or security concerns
Ability to effectively communicate with emergency services or Capitol Police
Valid driver’s license
Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
