The Security Officer protects, serves, and assists the patients, staff, and guests of FRHS. This role responds to designated emergency codes, uses communication skills to verbally engage with and/or deescalate individuals in distress, including those experiencing behavioral and psychiatric emergencies. The officer may need to subdue or restrain individuals and operate available tools such as restraints, sprays, shields, and handcuffs. Responsibilities include monitoring individuals for unsafe actions or behaviors, requiring acute hearing and vision for quick reaction to movement. The officer monitors medical center buildings and grounds to maintain a safe and secure environment, taking appropriate action to resolve problems. This role may handle dangerous ordinances and may be in contact with blood, body fluids, and deceased persons with appropriate personal protective equipment. The Security Officer investigates incidents, accidents, or complaints on medical center property and facilitates the safe takeoff and landing of medical aircraft.
