About The Position

The Security Officer ensures the safety and security of patients, staff, visitors, and property by patrolling facilities, monitoring surveillance systems, and responding to security incidents. The role provides customer service while enforcing safety policies and maintaining a secure environment. The officer patrols facility buildings, clinics, and surrounding grounds; assists and escorts visitors; monitors surveillance cameras; inspects property; investigates and documents suspicious activity, safety concerns, and security violations; and responds to alarms, emergencies, and incidents. The officer also secures property and access points, directs traffic, enforces parking regulations, assists with crowd control, and collaborates with hospital staff and law enforcement. Accurate incident reports and logs, regular and reliable attendance, and compliance with policies and standards are required. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

1–2 years of experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field.
Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to remain calm and take appropriate action in high-pressure situations.
Knowledge of security practices, procedures, and equipment operation.
Proficiency in writing clear and accurate incident reports.
Physical ability to patrol and respond to emergencies across a large facility.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI).
State license if required. Alaska: Security Guard license required. Georgia: Completion of a 24-hour Basic Security Officer Training program approved by the Georgia Board of Private Detective & Security Agencies and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification required. Tennessee: Security Guard License required.

Nice To Haves

0–2 years of experience working in a healthcare or hospital setting.
IAHSS Certification as a Security Officer or Facility Security Officer Certification.

Responsibilities

Patrol facility areas, clinics, and surrounding grounds to deter and detect unauthorized or suspicious activity.
Assist visitors by providing directions, answering questions, and escorting individuals as needed.
Monitor surveillance cameras and inspect property to identify and address security risks.
Investigate and document suspicious activity, safety concerns, and security violations.
Respond promptly to alarms, emergencies, and incidents, taking appropriate action to resolve issues safely.
Secure property by locking doors, windows, and gates after business hours and verifying access points.
Direct traffic, enforce parking regulations, and assist with crowd control during events or emergencies.
Collaborate with hospital staff and law enforcement during security-related situations.
Complete and maintain accurate incident reports, logs, and other security documentation.
Maintain regular and reliable attendance and comply with all policies and standards.
Perform other duties as assigned.
