About The Position

As a Department of Juvenile Justice Security Officer in Columbia, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. Join Allied Universal as an Access Control Officer at a government location, where you will monitor entry activity, verify credentials, conduct routine patrols, and remain visible to help deter security-related incidents. This is a driving post. Requirements

  • A valid driver’s license is required in the state where the job is located.
  • A current tuberculosis test and MMR vaccinations are required in accordance with DPSS/DHS COLA requirements.
  • At least 6 months of security-related experience is required.
  • Applicants must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to visitors, staff, and/or vendors by carrying out site-specific access control procedures, identification checks, and other security-related policies at a government location.
  • Monitor entry and exit points, verify credentials and/or visitor authorization, and help to deter unauthorized access to restricted areas.
  • Respond to incidents, disturbances, and/or critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, and communicate with site contacts and emergency personnel when appropriate.
  • Complete routine and random patrols of assigned areas and perimeter locations, noting unusual activity and reporting security-related concerns according to post procedures.
  • Maintain accurate logs, visitor records, and incident documentation, and support daily operations with clear communication and professional presence.
