About The Position

As a Juvenile Justice Security Officer in Columbia, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. Requirements

  • A valid driver’s license is required in the state where the job is located.
  • A tuberculosis test and MMR vaccinations are required in accordance with COLA DPSS/DHS requirements.
  • Possess at least 6 months of security-related experience.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

  • Being comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to staff, visitors, and/or contractors by following site-specific procedures, access protocols, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a government location.
  • Monitor entry and exit points, verify identification and/or credentials, document visitor activity, and help to deter unauthorized access to restricted areas.
  • Respond to incidents, disturbances, and/or critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, and communicate observations according to site protocols.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned buildings, grounds, and perimeter areas, noting unusual activity and reporting security-related concerns.
  • Assist with screening processes, maintain accurate logs and/or reports, and support orderly movement of people entering and leaving the location.
