NWC Security Officer
About The Position
The National Weather Center (NWC), in partnership with the OU Police Department, is seeking a dedicated and service-oriented Security Officer to help maintain a safe and secure environment. This position plays a vital role in campus safety by conducting patrols, monitoring security systems, responding to emergencies, and providing assistance to the public. Performs as a non-commissioned uniformed security officer for the National Weather Center as part of the OU Police Department. Performs patrols of the facility and grounds, monitors security CCTV cameras, responds to fire and emergency calls. Serve as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) by fulfilling training and reporting obligations related to campus safety protocols. The ideal candidate is a reliable professional with strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to remain calm and responsive in emergency situations. Must be able to pass police and US Department of Commerce background investigation. Must be a US or naturalized citizen (possess a permanent US residence card). Must be 18 years of age or older. Must pass Post Offer Employment Test (POET): be able to lift 62 pounds, push a maximum of 120 pounds, and pull a maximum of 125 pounds.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must be a US or naturalized citizen (possess a permanent US residence card).
- Must be able to pass police and US Department of Commerce background investigation.
- Must pass Post Offer Employment Test (POET): be able to lift 62 pounds, push a maximum of 120 pounds, and pull a maximum of 125 pounds.
- Valid Oklahoma Driver's License or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire date.
