About The Position

Allied Universal is hiring a part-time Security Officer to conduct permitter patrols at a transit railyard in Jamaica, New York. The role provides a designated weekly shift at an assigned site, with a six-month commitment to that anchor schedule. Officers may claim additional shifts through the company scheduling platform, with opportunities to increase hours up to 40 per week. The listed pay rate is $23.88 per hour. The schedule is Sunday, 3:00 PM–11:00 PM.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years old for unarmed roles; armed roles require a minimum age of 21.
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Undergo a background investigation as a condition of employment, in accordance with applicable laws.
• Undergo a drug screen as a condition of employment, to the extent permitted by law.
• Meet any applicable state or local licensing requirements, which may be required before employment.
• Have a valid driver’s license only if the position involves driving.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to passengers, visitors, and personnel by following security procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities at a public transportation location.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of stations, platforms, concourses, parking areas, and perimeter areas to deter unauthorized activity and identify security concerns.
• Monitor access points and public areas; report suspicious activity, hazards, and policy violations; and remain aware of rail operations and passenger movement.
• Respond calmly to incidents, service disruptions, and critical situations, coordinating with transit personnel and emergency responders as needed.
• Document observations, incidents, and patrol activities in accordance with site procedures and Allied Universal requirements.
