About The Position

Westtown School seeks an experienced Security Officer to work part-time on Saturdays from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM. Additional shifts may be available. Security Officers are responsible for maintaining the safety and security of the school community, all buildings, and the surrounding campus. Security Officers provide on-campus security through regular rounds and camera surveillance. As essential school personnel, Security Officers are expected to be available during inclement weather and other school-closing situations. Westtown School is an independent Quaker pre-K to 12 college-preparatory day and boarding school located in suburban West Chester, PA, approximately 30 miles from Philadelphia. Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent required
Current CPR/AED certification required
Valid Driver’s License and clean driving history
Must be well-organized and able to prioritize work
Excellent observational skills and attention to detail
Excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues
Able to work independently without close supervision
Calm under pressure and able to respond to a variety of situations
A commitment to enhancing an inclusive school community based on cultural competence, commitment to social justice, and respect for all voices
Required clearances include PA Criminal Background Check, Child Abuse Certification, and FBI fingerprints

Nice To Haves

Some college is preferred
EMT certification is desired but not required
Prior security or related experience is preferred
Enthusiasm for the mission of Westtown School and the school’s Quaker values

Responsibilities

Provide a safe and secure environment for students, employees, campus residents, and guests
Maintain the safety and security of all campus buildings and grounds through regular rounds, either on foot or in a motorized vehicle
Monitor surveillance camera system
Investigate and report unsafe conditions and suspicious activity
Develop and maintain positive and professional relations with students, parents, faculty, staff, and visitors
Respond promptly to all alarms and calls for assistance
Provide basic first aid and medical attention as appropriate
Complete a log of daily activities and provide “pass-on” information to department personnel
Notify police, fire department, and appropriate school officials of any situation requiring immediate attention or emergency response
Participate in departmental meetings and required training
Other duties as assigned
