About The Position

Armorous Security is hiring an unarmed Security Officer for an assignment at the Port in Oakland, California. The part-time schedule is Wednesday and Thursday, 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM, with opportunities for additional shifts. The pay rate is $22.00 per hour. New hires who are fully BSIS compliant are eligible for a $100 hiring bonus; full compliance includes a valid BSIS Guard Card, an 8-hour initial training certificate, and a 32-hour continuing education certificate.

This is a solo shift at a port staffed by officers around the clock across multiple shifts. The officer works independently on site and serves as the primary point of communication between Armorous and the client during the shift. Duties include securing the main gate, controlling access, monitoring CCTV, checking in and out visitors, conducting tours, maintaining logs, responding to concerns, and documenting incidents and observations. Tours involve both driving and walking. The role requires substantial standing and time on one's feet.

The Port operates in a federally regulated maritime environment. Officers must be attentive to access-control standards and visitor credentialing, understand security requirements in a port setting, and maintain a professional, client-facing demeanor.

Requirements

• Valid California BSIS Security Guard Registration.
• Current BSIS compliance, including an 8-hour initial training certificate and a 32-hour continuing education certificate.
• At least 2 years of prior security experience.
• Leadership experience, either in a formal supervisory role or as a senior officer.
• Strong customer service skills and a professional demeanor.
• Strong written communication skills for completing accurate activity logs and incident reports.
• Ability to stand and remain on one's feet for extended periods throughout the shift.
• Availability to work Wednesday and Thursday from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM.

Nice To Haves

• TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential); officers without one at hire must obtain it as a condition of continued assignment.
• Experience communicating directly with clients or supervisors as a site contact.
• Prior experience with graveyard shifts.

Responsibilities

• Check in and check out port visitors according to established access-control procedures.
• Secure the main gate and prevent unauthorized individuals from gaining access.
• Monitor CCTV cameras.
• Conduct regular, hourly security tours, including driving and walking tours.
• Complete hourly activity logs and maintain a log.
• Respond professionally to access violations and other concerns.
• Serve as the primary point of communication between Armorous and the client during the shift.
• Ensure officers assigned to the site complete their duties as assigned.
• Support new-hire training at the site as needed.
• Assist with coverage needs, including early-in, hold-over, and call-off coverage.
• Document incidents, maintenance concerns, and security observations in writing.
