The Security Officer is responsible for protecting, preventing, observing, and reporting any situations concerning the hospital, and to take appropriate action when necessary. The Security Officer I position is an entry level position that gives people experience who want to go into healthcare, law enforcement, or social work. The Security Officer II position is part of an organized hospital-wide program which promotes the personal safety of employees, physicians, volunteers, patients, visitors, and others having business in the hospital.

Requirements

• Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time.
• Ability to follow instructions and policy and procedures.
• Ability to produce concise, accurate, and well-written reports.

• Ability to respond to emergency situations in a calm and effective manner.
• Ability to fulfill the essential functions of the position.
• California State Consumer Affairs Guard Card obtained before completion of the probationary period (approximately 90 days after hire) (Security Officer I).
• Current CPR recognition (American Heart Association-Health Care Provider or American Red Cross – Professional Rescuer) (within 90 days of hire) (Security Officer I).
• Valid California Driver’s License (Security Officer II).
• Eligible to be insured under the Medical Center’s Liability Policy with DMV Report (and minimum age 21) (Security Officer II).
• Current California State Consumer Affairs Guard Card (Security Officer II).
• Current CPR recognition (American Heart Association-Health Care Provider or American Red Cross – Professional Rescuer) (Security Officer II).

Nice To Haves

• Previous security experience (Security Officer I).
• College level courses in law enforcement, security, or a related field, or completion of basic law enforcement training (Security Officer I).
• Hospital experience (Security Officer I).
• Previous customer service experience (Security Officer I).
• Previous customer service experience (Security Officer II).
• Hospital experience (Security Officer II).

Responsibilities
