About The Position
As a Security Officer Transitional Housing in Jamaica, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Transitional Housing. As an Unarmed Patrol Officer at a Transitional Housing location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, maintain a visible presence to help deter security-related incidents, and support a welcoming environment for residents, visitors, and staff. Requirements
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and service providers by carrying out site-specific procedures, access-control practices, and emergency response activities as appropriate.
- Respond to incidents, resident concerns, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner; notify appropriate site contacts and/or emergency responders according to established procedures.
- Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols throughout the shelter location, including common areas, entry points, exterior grounds, and perimeter, to help deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.
- Monitor access points, verify visitor authorization in accordance with site procedures, and maintain accurate activity, incident, and patrol documentation.
- Support a respectful and professional environment by communicating clearly with a diverse population and reporting policy violations, hazards, and maintenance concerns to appropriate personnel.
