This role is responsible for protecting the health and welfare of the public by defending the station against any act of radiological sabotage, attack, or theft of special nuclear material. The Security Officer Trainee will maintain a secure perimeter for site access and egress, and manage employee, contractor, and visitor entry as specified by procedure and the site security plan. Responsibilities include performing searches, patrols, and inspections in accordance with the Station Security Plan, procedures, and post orders. This position is part of an armed response force providing physical protection for Constellation nuclear clean energy centers and evaluating adversarial actions to prevent intrusion and sabotage. The role involves conducting armed stationary, foot, and/or vehicle patrols, controlling access and egress of personnel, materials, and vehicles, monitoring surveillance equipment, and deterring criminal activity. The trainee will maintain and implement NRC requirements and Federal/State Laws for site protection and access control, participate in formal training programs to become an armed Nuclear Security Officer, and be responsible for accurate documentation and record keeping. A thorough knowledge of plant systems is required to maintain the site's defensive strategy. Additional duties may include emergency response, department coverage, and support during outage activities.
