Job Description As a Security Officer Screening Specialist in Fort Lauderdale, FL , you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. Join Allied Universal as a Screener at a busy government airport location, where you will help support security-related screening operations, monitor access points, and assist with the flow of passengers, visitors, and staff. In this highly visible role, you will help to deter incidents through strong observation, professionalism, and communication while delivering service that reflects our agile, reliable, innovative, and people-first culture. Position Type: Full Time Pay Rate: $18.53 / Hour Job Schedule: Day Time Mon 11:00 PM - 07:00 AM Tue 11:00 PM - 07:00 AM Fri 11:00 PM - 07:00 AM Sat 11:00 PM - 07:00 AM Sun 11:00 PM - 07:00 AM

Requirements

  • Have 3+ years of combined law enforcement, military, and/or security-related experience, or possess a college degree.
  • Be at least 21+ years of age.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • Access control and/or badge experience is preferred.
  • A state, county, and/or city issued security license is preferred.
  • X-Ray screening experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to visitors, staff, and/or travelers by carrying out screening procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a government transportation location.
  • Screen individuals, bags, packages, and/or personal items entering restricted or controlled areas in accordance with post orders and applicable procedures.
  • Monitor access points, check credentials, and report unusual activity, prohibited items, and/or policy violations to the appropriate personnel.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner while documenting observations and actions taken.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around screening areas, entry points, and the perimeter, as working environments and conditions may vary by location.
