About The Position

As a Security Officer Screening Associate in Newark, NJ, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Logistics & Distribution, and more. Join Allied Universal as a Screener at a fast-paced logistics and distribution location, where you will help monitor entry points, verify badges and access, and support smooth daily operations through strong customer service and communication. In this role, you will remain visible, complete routine screening activities, and help discourage security-related incidents while reflecting our values of agility, reliability, innovation, teamwork, and integrity.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

Customer service experience is preferred.
Access control and badge experience is preferred.
Being comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service to employees, visitors, and drivers by carrying out site-specific screening procedures, access control protocols, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a logistics and distribution location.
Screen individuals, personal belongings, packages, and/or vehicles entering or leaving the location in accordance with post orders, client policies, and applicable screening guidelines.
Monitor entry and exit points, verify credentials and/or shipping documentation, and report unusual activity, policy violations, or restricted items to site leadership.
Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including assisting with de-escalation, notifications, and documentation of security-related concerns.
Conduct regular and random patrols around the business and perimeter, observing loading areas, trailer yards, and high-traffic access points to help to deter unauthorized activity.
