As a Security Officer School in Stony Brook, NY, this role is designed to provide reliable, consistent hours at an assigned site with the flexibility for you to earn more by picking-up additional shifts when it works for you. Requirements

  • A valid driver’s license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • CPR and First Aid certification is preferred.
  • A Guard Card or license is preferred.
  • Experience with access control and badge systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and families while carrying out site-specific procedures, campus policies, and appropriate emergency response activities.
  • Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of academic buildings, residence areas, common spaces, parking areas, and the campus perimeter to help identify and report unusual activity, maintenance concerns, and policy violations.
  • Respond to incidents, alarms, medical situations, and critical events in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established protocols and contacting appropriate personnel and/or emergency services as needed.
  • Monitor access points and visitor activity, verify credentials as required, and help maintain an orderly environment for the educational community.
  • Prepare clear and accurate reports of incidents, patrol observations, and other security-related activities in accordance with Allied Universal and site requirements.
