About The Position

As a Security Officer Residential Shelter in New York, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Residential Shelters. As an Unarmed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal, you will monitor and patrol a shelter and technology-focused location, maintaining a visible presence to help deter incidents. You will support residents, visitors, and staff through professional communication, routine reporting, and responsive customer service. Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and service providers by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and, when appropriate, emergency response activities within a shelter environment.
  • Respond to incidents, resident concerns, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, escalating matters according to site procedures.
  • Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of interior common areas, building entrances, exterior grounds, and perimeter areas to help identify and report unauthorized activity, hazards, and maintenance concerns.
  • Monitor access points and visitor activity, verify authorization as directed by site policies, and maintain accurate logs, incident reports, and shift documentation.
  • Support a respectful, trauma-informed environment by communicating professionally with individuals from diverse backgrounds and coordinating with on-site staff and emergency responders when needed.
