About The Position

As a Security Officer Patrol Technician in New York, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Shelter, and more. Join Allied Universal as an Unarmed Patrol Officer at a shelter location, where you will monitor assigned areas, conduct routine patrols, and remain visible to help deter security-related incidents. In this people-first role, you will support residents, staff, and visitors through strong communication, customer service, and teamwork while bringing reliability, integrity, and innovation to each shift.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of security-related experience is required.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • A state, county, or city issued security-related license is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Access control and/or badge experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to residents, visitors, and/or staff by following site-specific procedures, access protocols, and emergency response activities appropriate to a shelter location.
  • Respond to incidents, disturbances, and/or critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, documenting observations and reporting security-related concerns to site contacts and Allied Universal leadership.
  • Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols throughout the location, including common areas, entry points, exterior spaces, and perimeter areas, noting unusual activity and/or maintenance concerns.
  • Monitor entrances and exits, verify authorized access, and help to deter unauthorized entry, trespassing, loitering, and/or disruptive behavior in accordance with site policies.
  • Support a respectful environment by using de-escalation techniques, providing directions and assistance when appropriate, and communicating with emergency services and/or local authorities when needed.
