About The Position

As a Security Officer Patrol Technician in New York, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Shelter, and more. Join Allied Universal as an Unarmed Patrol Officer at a shelter location, where you will monitor assigned areas, conduct routine patrols, and remain visible to help deter security-related incidents. In this people-first role, you will support residents, staff, and visitors through strong communication, customer service, and teamwork while bringing reliability, integrity, and innovation to each shift.

Requirements

At least 1 year of security-related experience is required.
Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

A state, county, or city issued security-related license is preferred.
Customer service experience is preferred.
Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
Access control and/or badge experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service to residents, visitors, and/or staff by following site-specific procedures, access protocols, and emergency response activities appropriate to a shelter location.
Respond to incidents, disturbances, and/or critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, documenting observations and reporting security-related concerns to site contacts and Allied Universal leadership.
Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols throughout the location, including common areas, entry points, exterior spaces, and perimeter areas, noting unusual activity and/or maintenance concerns.
Monitor entrances and exits, verify authorized access, and help to deter unauthorized entry, trespassing, loitering, and/or disruptive behavior in accordance with site policies.
Support a respectful environment by using de-escalation techniques, providing directions and assistance when appropriate, and communicating with emergency services and/or local authorities when needed.
