As a Security Officer - Learning & Resource Center, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries. As an Unarmed Patrol Officer at a prominent public library location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, maintain a visible presence to help deter incidents, support access control activities, and provide exceptional customer service to visitors and staff. You will use clear communication and technology to report security-related concerns. Requirements

  • Possess a New York State Security Guard License.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • Access control/badge experience is preferred.
  • Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to visitors, patrons, staff, and vendors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and, when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Respond to incidents, patron concerns, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established reporting and escalation procedures.
  • Conduct regular and random foot patrols throughout public areas, reading rooms, entrances, exits, staff areas, and the surrounding perimeter to help deter unauthorized activity.
  • Monitor access points and help maintain orderly entry and exit procedures in accordance with site-specific policies.
  • Document observations, incidents, and unusual activities accurately and promptly, and communicate relevant information to Allied Universal supervision and site representatives.
